Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, or lower eyelids, or both. It can correct droopy upper eyelids, puffy bags under the eyes, and improve the appearance of the fine wrinkles and crow’s feet around the eyes. This procedure is usually performed under IV sedation or under general anesthesia, but patients will be well enough to go home that same day. It involves the repositioning of fat deposits, tightening of muscles and tissue, and removal of excess skin. The result is a more alert and rejuvenated appearance.
The results of the procedure will be apparent as swelling and bruising subside. Incision lines are well hidden within the natural contours of the eyelid region. Full recovery is about 2 to 4 weeks.
