What are the advantages or disadvantages of silicone implants versus saline-filled implants?
Silicone implants look and feel more natural than saline-filled implants. However, because silicone implants can only be compressed to a certain diameter, the incision needed to insert the implant is going to be longer than that needed to insert a saline filled implant.

Do breast surgeries leave scars?
Yes, scars will be present after breast surgery. However, they do fade with time. In addition, during surgery, the surgeon tends to make the incisions in inconspicuous places, such as on the underside of the breast, around the areola, or in the armpit. Scars are also easily hidden under a bra or other items of clothing.

Should women who are pregnant or who are planning to be pregnant postpone undergoing a breast lift or breast reduction?
Women who are planning to be pregnant should wait before undergoing surgery because pregnancy and breast feeding may offset the effects of the surgery.

What is recovery like?
Immediately following surgery, you may feel tired and sore, but this usually disappears within a few days. Patients normally can get around independently by the second day. The swelling and sensitivity usually fades over the first few weeks and many patients are able to return to work within one to two weeks.

Who is a good candidate for a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)?
A good candidate is one who is in good physical condition with loose skin that hasn’t responded well to diet or exercise. This includes older individuals whose skin has lost its elasticity, or women who have stretched skin and muscles because of pregnancy. However, because the results of an abdominoplasty may be diminished if women continue to have children, women who plan to have more children should delay undergoing this surgery. Patients who plan to lose a lot of weight are also advised to delay having an abdominoplasty because skin usually loosens after weight loss.

What is recovery like?
A normal recovery can range from two weeks to a few months. Most patients take between 2 to 4 days before they can get around independently. Usually, patients are able to return to a desk job at five to seven days and other jobs at around 10 to 14 days.

Will a tummy tuck leave scars?
Although there will be a permanent scar between the hips, it is usually located very low and easily concealed beneath a bikini.

How long do the results of a tummy tuck last?
Results are normally permanent with a healthy diet and regular exercise. However, significant weight loss or gain and pregnancy may offset the original results and prompt the need for a second tummy tuck.

Who is a good candidate for a body lift?
A good candidate is one who cannot lose substantial amounts of weight or already has inelastic skin on many areas of their bodies. These symptoms usually result from age, pregnancy, or extreme weight loss.

What happens during surgery?
Surgery involves the removal of sagging skin, the tightening and stitching of underlying muscles and supportive tissue, and removal of fat if necessary.

What is recovery like?
Following surgery, surgical tubes and compression garments may be needed to help the healing process. Results are immediately visible, but will continue to improve as swelling and bruising subside. Normal full recovery takes a few months.

Where can liposuction be done?
Liposuction can performed on the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, chin, cheeks, neck, and upper arms.

What kinds of techniques are used in liposuction?
There are three main techniques that surgeons use. In all of them, a small tube is inserted into a tiny incision and moved back and forth to loosen excess fat. The dislodged fat is then suctioned

What is the recovery like?
Immediately following surgery, antibiotics, drainage tubes, and compression garments may be needed to help the healing process. Most patients can return to work within a few days. Swelling usually diminishes within the first three months and results are immediately visible. Most scars are inconspicuous, though baggy skin, numbness, and pigmentation changes may be possible.

Are the results of liposuction permanent?
Results are normally permanent with a healthy diet and regular exercise. If a patient gains weight after the procedure, the fat is usually distributed to other areas of the body.

What are the benefits of a facelift?
A facelift reduces visible signs of aging, including wrinkles, sagging in the midface, deep creases below the lower eyelids, deep creases between the nose and mouth, displaced fat deposits, loss of muscle tone in lower face, and loose skin and excess fat deposits under the chin and jaw. If you would like a specific part of the face corrected, you need not undergo a complete facelift. More specific operations, such as a necklift, browlift, or eyelid surgery, are offered.

Can older individuals also get facelifts?
Average facelift patients are usually in their 40s to 60s, but patients in their 70s and 80s can also receive facelifts.

Do facelifts leave permanent results?
Results vary from patient to patient, but usual results last between five to ten years.

When can I return to work?
Most patients are able to get around independently by the second day. However, many do not feel comfortable going out into public until a few days to a week has passed.

What can eyelid surgery do for me?
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, or lower eyelids, or both. It can correct droopy upper eyelids, puffy bags under the eyes, and improve the appearance of the fine wrinkles and crow’s feet around the eyes.

Will eyelid surgery leave scars?
The surgeon will make incisions in inconspicuous places where scarring tends to be less visible.

Non-surgical:

What are the different types of chemical peels?
Chemical peels range from mild, such as alphahydroxy acid peels, to deeper peels, such as tricholoroacetic acid peels, to very strong peels, such as phenol peels. Lighter peels are advantageous to people who cannot spare a long length of time for recovery. However, they need to be repeated in order to achieve the desired result.

What is injectable collagen?
Collagen can be injected to add fullness to lips and cheeks, improve shallow contours, soften facial creases and wrinkles, and improve the appearance of scars.

What is the recovery period for Botox?
There is little to no recovery time for Botox and patients can resume normal activities right after the procedure. Results appear a few days after the injection.

How long do the results for Botox last?
The results of a Botox injection usually last up to four months. Repetition of injections every three to four months is advised to maintain a young appearance.
