Non-Surgical - Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a laser light to remove unwanted hair. A beam of light is passed through the skin, where it targets melanin, the dark pigment in hair. When it reaches the hair follicle, or where hair growth begins, it is absorbed and releases heat. This intense heat destroys the follicle so that there is lack of hair growth at that location. Common locations for laser hair removal include the legs, armpits, upper lip, chin, and bikini line. Laser hair removal does not require anesthesia and therefore, can be done in the surgeon’s office with little recovery time. Laser hair removal does not guarantee complete hair removal, but long-term hair removal can be achieved through repeated procedures.
