Hand Fracture

Most hand fractures occur as a result of direct trauma to the hand. Commonly an object either falls on the hand or the hand strikes an object. When the hand fracture occurs common symptoms include, but not limited, pain, swelling, a palpable deformity, and difficulty moving the fingers. The common treatments are used for hand fractures are cast & splints, pins, and metal plates & screws. After the treatment, it is sometimes necessary for the patient to work with a specialized hand therapist in order to help regain hand motion.
