Tendon Transection

Hand tendon injury is usually an open injury, mostly common as tendon transection, and sometimes along with nerve transection or finger fractures. Also, the close tendon injury happens as well. Once tendon is transected, the related joints will easily lose their functions. Different parts of tendon are transected, not only the joints cannot extend, but deformity may possibly occur. Sometimes, tendon is partially transected, the joint can still move. However, the patient will feel weak and pain.

If time allows, usually within 12 hours after transection occurs, with regular wound, without any infection occurring, the transection site requires sutures immediately.
